A Poster

There is only a German version of the poster, but that affects only the headline, the diagrams themselves are language independent (except the transliteration of certain Russian names). The data are from the Mathematical Genealogy Project. The poster shows the Fields medalists and Abel laureates with their mathematical genealogy.

You will realize several major Schools, which date back to Euler, Gauß, Jacobi and Weierstraß. There are also minor Schools, like that of Tschebyschow or Cayley, and some lone warriors.

As indicated, the poster reflects the state of 2016. The Abel laureate of 2017 Yves Meyer is a descendant of Hadamard and thus a member of the Euler-School. I will publish an update of the poster, if the Fields medalists of 2018 are known (at the earliest). However, because the poster will become more and more intricate, if more people are included, it may be that no update will be published at all.

The original size of the poster is DIN A2. This is also the size of the PDF, you may download. A copy shop (in Germany) will print the poster in color on A2 paper at a fee of about 13€.
